For the second day running, stage 2 from Vitoria to San Sebastian is too hard for the pure sprinters but it’s also difficult to imagine someone going solo on the Jaizkibel, the iconic climb of the Clasica San Sebastian, whose summit is located only 16.5km away from the finishing line near the beaches of La Concha and Ondarreta. It’s another popular stage to come, more suitable to the likes of Mads Pedersen, strong finishers who can overcome the climbs, than the thrilling finale of stage 1 with the twin brothers Yates coming first and second. Only the passion of Basque fans is granted. For UAE Team Emirates, Yates in yellow is a way to protect Tadej Pogacar from some extra pressure but the crucial point is the bonus sprint atop Jaizkibel. It might change the race a lot!
