The Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift welcome Waze as a partner for the next three years. The two events join the 300 event organisers in the Waze Global Event programme. This program is a data exchange partnership that aims to reduce traffic congestion on the day of the event and improve traffic conditions by using Waze technology, data and information. Throughout the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, Waze’s maps will show the 4,000 km of closed roads, start and finish lines, car parks, and traffic speeds live, so motorists can find their way and be better informed about the traffic at the event. Thanks to this partnership, the Tour de France will be in a position to benefit from Waze's tools and technologies to reduce parking and traffic problems and improve the experience of Tour de France fans who come to spectate over the totality of the race. Waze has also become an official sponsor of both events. It will support the logistics and adorn four security vehicles and a guest car in the Tour's famous "caravan": a procession of vehicles that precedes the passage of the riders by a few hours on each of the stages, from Copenhagen to Paris and from Paris to the Super Planche des Belles Filles. |
"This year, the Tour de France and the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will cover 4,357 km of roads. Each stage requires safety measures and traffic adjustments. Waze's acclaimed expertise is an invaluable asset for the Tour de France experience for spectators and professionals who follow us on a daily basis. They will have better guidance to reach the points of passage of the Tour's champions. This partnership will bring spectators closer to the race," Julien Goupil, Media & Partnerships Director of Amaury Sport Organisation. "Waze is designed to bring the most useful and reliable resources to drivers everywhere. So, partnering with one of the world's most famous sporting events was a natural choice. Our community is our superpower: from Copenhagen to the Champs-Élysées, Tour de France fans can rest assured that Waze will help them navigate every stage." Harris Beber, CMO of Waze. "After eight years of helping to update Waze's maps, it's an honour to bring the app's utility to drivers in all four countries at the 21 stages of the Tour de France and the eight stages of the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift 2022. Our group of more than 30 map editors will work closely with the Waze team to enhance the fan experience throughout the Tour, providing them with the real-time information they need to follow the event highlights and avoid traffic along the way." Christophe Lautier, a champion among Waze map editors. |
