You have to put yourself out there in a breakaway. Then it’s really up to the bunch if you stay away. I was sort of playing cat and mouse with the peloton, giving them some more time. We gambled. We lost. But we gave it a good crack anyway. Obviously there’s some frustration in the team with how our Tour de France has gone. But we’ve bounced back from each day trying to break away. The energy in the team is still very positive. If it wasn’t positive, we wouldn’t be trying like that. It’s a shame the way it’s gone but we’re upbeat in the bus and hopefully Mitchelton-Scott can finish the Tour on a high note.
