Courchevel is a top-of-the-range resort, in terms of its hotels and gastronomy, the quality and extent of the ski domain… and also when it comes to sport. The resort’s ski jumps were built for the Olympic events at the Albertville Games in 1992, and the world’s skiing elite returned there for the World Championships in 2023. In 2020, the Tour riders were introduced to the fearsome slopes leading up to the Col de la Loze, which overlooks the resort and leads over into Méribel. The Colombian Miguel Ángel López and the then unexplored climb both earned themselves a place in the Tour’s roll of honour that year. In 2023, Austria’s Felix Gall led over the summit before going on to take a solo victory in Courchevel.
