A snowboarding mecca in winter, the Pyrenean resort transforms itself into an unmissable venue for the world’s longboarding elite in summer. The Tour’s first finish here in 2012 saw Alejandro Valverde surprise the favourites with a victorious 35-kilometre solo attack. The following year, another Alexandre, Geniez, achieved a similar success when he won at Peyragudes on a stage of… the Vuelta a España! In 2017, Romain Bardet proved the strongest on the formidable slopes of the altiport, where Chris Froome relinquished the Yellow Jersey for the first time in his career, the race lead going to Fabio Aru. In 2022, Tadej Pogacar, although trailing behind Jonas Vingegaard in the standings, managed to beat the Yellow Jersey on the line to add another line to his history in the Pyrenees.
