Six Tour stages have finished at the top of the long climb to the resort overlooking Lourdes. Luc Leblanc was the first rider to taste victory here in 1994, just before winning the world championship title in Sicily. In 2008, Hautacam also marked a turning point in Cadel Evans’ career when he took the lead at the Tour for the first time, a one-second advantage over Frank Schleck putting him in the Yellow Jersey… three years before he won it in Paris. In 2014, the Vincenzo Nibali show reached its finale at Hautacam, as the Italian, wearing the Yellow Jersey, won a fourth stage just three days before the finish in Paris. Meanwhile, in 2022, Jonas Vingegaard increased his lead over Tadej Pogacar at Hautacam as he headed towards his first Tour de France crown.
